Shikhar is a 2010 Indian Hindi-language action drama film, directed by John Matthew Matthan and produced by John Matthew Matthan, Ambika Chopra, Nishtha Jain, Piyush Jain and Ambika Chopra under their banner Boney Kapoor Films. It is the remake of the 2006 South Korean film A Good Lawyer's Wife. The film, which stars Ajay Devgn, Shahid Kapoor and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles, released on 8 August 2010, and received mixed to positive reviews from critics. The film was a major financial success, earning ₹310 crore worldwide.
In the 1980s, a woman known as "Shikhar", and a boy known as "Laxman" fall in love and their lives begin to change after an accident. "Shikhar" (Bipasha Basu) is a lawyer. Her husband is dead, and her only child, a young son, is not much of a child, and is also adopted. She is a 'Shikhar' as a result.
Shikhar's husband is a lawyer and he is handling a case where a man named Satish runs a hosiery factory in Raigarh, in a village called Raigarh. Raigarh is a small town with less than 100,000 people and the factory is a major employer. He is sued by a rival company and claims that he is selling hosiery below cost and the mill should have closed. Satish tells his lawyer that it is a simple case of blackmail, but the lawyer's fees are piling up.
Shikhar, who is visiting Raigarh with her son, meets Satish in the hosiery mill and she tries to help him out. She gets the lawyer to drop the case on the ground that there are no supporting documents, and then meets Satish again. He asks her if she can help him in a different way and she agrees to meet him at a hotel later that day.
That night, Shikhar goes to the hotel and is shocked to find her husband there with another woman. Satish had convinced Shikhar's husband that he was in trouble with his creditors and that he needed a lawyer. Satish offers Shikhar her husband's car and that he would pay for her hotel and meals. She also learns that Shikhar's husband has been having an affair with Satish's wife
